News: Special Educator Named National Teacher of the Year
Juliana Urtubey received the honor from the Council of Chief State School Officers
Writing in the The 74 on 8 May 2021, Linda Jacobson reported that Juliana Urtubey of Booker Elementary in Las Vegas, NV (USA), was named national teacher of the year by the US Council of Chief State School Officers. Ms. Jacobson's story focused on Ms. Urtubey's personal characteristics and outlook on education. Ms. Urtubey brings a diverse background to her teaching and to the position as ToY.
Ms. Urtubey, who has National Board Certification, will spend a year promoting education in her role as ToY for the CCSSO. That organization provided a bio of Ms. Urtubey in the run-up to naming her to the role.
